Menlo Park City School District
181 Encinal Avenue
Atherton, CA 94027

650-321-7140

The District is grateful for the amazing support shown by the Menlo Park/ Atherton community. The community has overwhelmingly supported our schools through parcel taxes, two bonds, and donations to the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation.

Parcel Taxes
Parcel Taxes account for 18% of the District's budget. This income allows the District to provide additional staff development, class size reduction in upper grades, nursing services, counseling, and program improvement.
  • 1992, 1995 and 2003 - reduces class sizes in 4th-8th
$65/parcel which won by 74.4%, renewed in 1995 by 83.4% and again in 2003 by 77.4%

  • Measure A: 2000 - further reduction of class size, staff development, expand art and music and upgrade technology.
    $298/parcel which won by 74.7%

  • Measure B: 2003 - restores 50% of cuts to budget
    $73/parcel, which won by 80.9%

Construction Bonds

In 1995 the community approved a $22 million bond to make improvements to the four school sites. In 2003 the District Office was renovated. In 2003 and again in 2005, the bond was refinanced, saving the community almost $1,000,000 in future payments.

In June 2006, the community approved Measure U, a $91.1 million bond which garnered a 70.5% approval vote. This bond will address growth and complete the modernization at our four campuses. Please click here for additional details.
