Traffic Rules Please see the pages 50 and 51 of the Oak Knoll School Student Directory and HandBook 2007-2008 for more information on getting to and from school safely. Cars There is no parking on Oak Knoll Lane, from White Oak to Oak Avenue, between 7:30am to 8:30am and between 1:30pm and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. There is no parking or stopping on the north side of White Oak Drive between Oak Knoll Lane and Oakfield Drive between 7:30 - 8:30am and 1:30-3:30 pm. Do not drop-off or pick-up children at the intersection of White Oak Drive and Oak Knoll Lane, Oak Avenue and Oak Knoll Lane, or at the cross-walk on Oak Knoll Lane. We request that parents also keep our pedestrian walkway safe and clear on Thursdays when dismissal is before 2:00. There are a limited number of visitor parking spaces in the school parking lot. Please do not park in reserved spaces. Morning Drop-Off / Afternoon Pickup Cars should enter Oak Knoll Lane from Oakdell, turn right into the parking lot at the first driveway, and circle around the parking lot to the curb in front of the office. Unload or pickup along the curb beginning at the office and continuing to the front of the Multi. Exit to the right only onto Oak Knoll Lane toward Oak. |
Please do not block traffic when loading and unloading students. No left turns leaving or entering the school. Bike and scooter riders coming from Oakdell need to walk their bicycles and scooters beginning at White Oak. Everyone must use the crosswalk in front of the school to cross Oak Knoll Lane. It is very unsafe to cross in front of the school driveways. Bicycles Parents decide when to allow their children to bike to school. Helmets are always required. Children should obey all street traffic regulations and follow the Bike Safety Route to school. We ask that students begin walking their bicycles with the pedestrians from the corner of White Oak and Oak Knoll. Bike riding is not permitted in the school hallways at any time. All bicycles must be licensed and locked while at school. Children who violate the school rules for approaching and leaving the school grounds may have their bike privileges revoked. Bike safety rules also apply to scooters and rollerblades. Walking Children walking to school should be thoroughly instructed by parents which routes to take. Careful attention should be given to crosswalk safety. |
