Highlights – School Board meeting of January 18, 2006

The Menlo Park City School District Board of Education held its regular meeting on January 18, 2006. Highlights of this meeting of the Board are presented for your information. The next School Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Office, 181 Encinal Avenue, Atherton. Highlights of the December 14, 2005, Special Board Meeting:

• • The Board voted unanimously to accept and approve the Audit Report as prepared by C. G. Uhlenberg LLP for the school year ended June 30, 2005.
    
    
  • Superintendent Ranella reported that, effective January 4, 2006, Dr. Jean Holbrook was appointed by the San Mateo County Board of Education, as permanent County Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Holbrook will complete the term of the recently retired Dr. John Mehl.
    
    
  • Superintendent Ranella noted that the Waiver (Request for Allowance of Attendance Because of Emergency Conditions) submitted to the California Department of Education for closure of Oak Knoll School on October 7, 2005, was denied, making it necessary to schedule a make-up day of attendance.
    
    
  • Superintendent Ranella highlighted anticipated topics for presentation and discussion by the Board at its Study Session on February 1^st.
    
    
  • The Menlo Park City School District Calendar for the 2006-2007 school year was unanimously adopted by the Board.
