The County Office of Education is an educational service agency serving all 24 school districts in San Mateo County. It provides a variety of instructional, business, and consulting services which enhance the ability of districts to provide quality education. The office serves as an intermediate link between the California Department of Education and local districts, demonstrating educational leadership in the County and State, and working with public and private agencies for the benefit of public education.
As an independent, impartial, not-for-profit organization, EdSource's sole mission is to clarify complex education issues and to promote thoughtful decisions about public school improvement. EdSource does not advocate or lobby, and over two decades we have developed a solid reputation as a credible and respected source of K–12 education information. The expertise of EdSource’s small staff of policy analysts, researchers, writers, and communication and outreach specialists is strengthened by a top-notch, diverse, statewide board of 19 directors.
All 5th graders in the Menlo Park City School District spend a week studying the environment in a program known as Outdoor Education. Nestled in the Redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Jones Gulch has been the home for Outdoor Ed for over 35 years! We provide week-long residential programs focusing on experiential and environmental education.
