Registration for 2009/10 Kindergarten Begins February 2, 2009: Families with children who will be age 5 by December 2, 2009, and live within the Laurel or Encinal school boundaries, are eligible to enroll their student at their assigned school. Please check the new boundary map to confirm your assigned school. To pick up a registration packet at the school office, you must bring:

• your child's birth certificate or other legal proof of age,
• proof of residence, defined as a PG&E bill (no other utility bill will do) or a deed, lease agreement, or rental agreement
• and a copy of your child's immunization records.

Parents who register their Kindergarten students within the District Priority Registration Period between February 2 and February 27 will have priority for enrollment in the school in their attendance boundary; if applied for, will receive consideration for the Spanish Immersion Program to be offered at Encinal School; and, if applied for, will receive consideration for an intradistrict transfer to a school outside of their attendance boundary. Registration materials received after February 27th will be reviewed and accepted in the order received.

A mandatory Information Meeting for parents who are interested in learning more about the Kindergarten 2009 Spanish Immersion Program is scheduled for 7:00pm on January 29 at the District Office at 181 Encinal Avenue. This program is lottery based and enrollment will occur in the Spring.
