| Background:
The Oak Knoll campus rests on approximately 8.13 acres and currently houses 735 students in grades K-5. The current campus includes twenty-eight (28) permanent classrooms and fourteen (14) leased portables. The first classrooms were built in 1952. Additional classrooms and other facilities were constructed in 1953, 1955, 1956 and 1959. In 1999, a new Library, Administration wing and other ancillary facilities were built in conjunction with phased modernization under the District's prior Bond Program.
While the District plans to add classroom facilities at its other campuses to accommodate the anticipated growth, the Oak Knoll campus is at capacity. The District intends to limit and possibly decrease daily enrollment at Oak Knoll by reconfiguration. New classrooms planned are primarily to replace leased portables with modern permanent classrooms. Oak Knoll will have a targeted peak enrollment between 680 and 700 students with a design capacity of 720 students, based on the District's student-to-teacher ratio. The school will have a total of 34 regular classrooms.
