School Description
Encinal School is comprised of grades three, four, and five, with approximately 400 students
supervised and taught by 24 teachers, five aides, and four classified staff
members. Seventeen of the teachers are at Encinal full-time, and there is a full-time librarian. Part-time
certificated staff include a Team teacher, a teacher for the limited English
speaking students, a Speech/Language specialist, a psychologist, a science
specialist, and two instrumental music teachers. The student
body is 20% minority with 3% Black, 4% Asian, and 11% Hispanic as the largest
groups.
The Encinal community values education very highly and, therefore,
attendance rates are excellent. Daily, fewer than 1% of our students have
unexcused absences. We are dedicated to providing a quality educational
program for all students to develop academic skills and knowledge, positive
attitudes and respect towards self, other persons and groups, self-discipline
and self-motivation, intellectual curiosity, creative self-expression,
effective social skills, and a lifelong love for learning.
